How Does The Postage Work
Postage & Delivery Information
At Pet Med Direct, we take great care to ensure your pet’s medications and products are delivered quickly, safely, and in perfect condition. Below you’ll find all the details about how we handle postage, delivery times, and shipping options.
🧊 Cold & Temperature-Sensitive Items
Certain prescription products and vaccines must be kept at controlled temperatures during transit.
Courier: Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed
Delivery Time: Usually next-day before 2pm delivery (Monday – Wednesday dispatch only orders). Orders after Wednesday will be posted the following Monday so that it arrives next day).
Packaging: All cold items are packed with insulated liners and ice packs to maintain the correct temperature range during shipping.
Handling: These orders are prioritised for same-day dispatch when received before our cut-off time(Wed 3.30 pm).
Important: Someone must be available at the delivery address to receive and store the package immediately on arrival. We cannot take responsibility if the parcel is left unattended or delayed after delivery.
📦 Standard Deliveries (Non-Refrigerated Items)
All other products, including non-prescription items, accessories, and room-temperature medications, are sent via Parcelforce 24 or 48, depending on your selection at checkout.

Orders placed before 2 pm (Monday – Friday) are usually dispatched the same day.
Orders placed after this time or on weekends/bank holidays will be processed the next working day.
You will receive tracking information via email once your parcel leaves our warehouse.
💊 Prescription Orders
Orders containing Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V) will not be dispatched until a valid prescription has been received and verified by our team.
If your order contains both prescription and non-prescription products, all items will be shipped together once the prescription has been approved.
To avoid delays, please upload your prescription as soon as you place your order.
🚚 Delivery Areas
We currently deliver across the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland.
Please note:
We cannot deliver to addresses outside the UK.
Some remote areas may require an extra day for delivery.
⚠️ Delivery Delays & Conditions
While we aim to dispatch and deliver promptly, delivery times are estimates and cannot be guaranteed, especially during adverse weather, strikes, or busy seasonal periods.
If a parcel is delayed by the courier, we will assist you in tracking and resolving the issue as quickly as possible.
💰 Postage Costs
Postage costs are calculated automatically at checkout based on your order weight, delivery type, and destination.
Typical rates (subject to change):
Royal Mail Special Delivery (Cold Items): From £14.50
Parcelforce 24: From £7.95
Parcelforce 48: From £6.90
These prices may change with price rises from the suppliers if unsure check with Parcelforce and Royal Mail for upto date prices.
