Equimax Oral Gel for Horses is a broad-spectrum wormer for horses and ponies. It treats and controls the main important gastrointestinal worms, including large and small redworms, roundworms, bots and tapeworm, as directed by your vet or SQP.

How Equimax Works
Equimax Oral Gel for Horses contains two active ingredients. Ivermectin targets a wide range of roundworms and bots. Praziquantel targets tapeworm. Together, they provide broad-spectrum control of the main worms that affect horses.

By reducing worm burdens, Equimax helps protect gut health and can reduce the risk of worm-related problems such as weight loss, poor condition and, in some cases, colic associated with heavy infestations.

Chosen at appropriate times of year, or when testing suggests tapeworm exposure, as part of a planned tapeworm strategy.

• Yard worming plans
Useful where several horses need broad-spectrum treatment at the same time, with 12- and 48-syringe packs for convenience.

Exact timing and frequency depend on your horse, grazing, pasture hygiene and test results. Your vet or SQP will advise what is appropriate and help avoid unnecessary treatments.

How to Give Equimax Oral Gel
Equimax Oral Gel for Horses is given by mouth using the supplied oral syringe.

Your vet or SQP will:

• Advise you to weigh or tape your horse to estimate bodyweight

• Show you how to set the plunger to the correct weight mark

• Explain how to place the syringe over the back of the tongue

• Remind you to check the full dose is swallowed

Always follow the directions on the packaging and the advice you receive. Do not guess doses or share partially used syringes between horses. If you are unsure whether your horse received the full dose, speak to your vet or SQP before repeating.

Worming and Yard Management
No wormer works properly on its own without good management. Alongside Equimax Oral Gel for Horses, your vet or SQP may suggest:

• Regular faecal egg count testing where suitable

• Treating only horses that need it, to help slow resistance

• Poo-picking paddocks and managing grazing to reduce contamination

• Rotating or resting fields where possible

• Quarantine and worming plans for new arrivals to the yard

Safety Information
Equimax Oral Gel for Horses is a POM-VPS medicine. It can only be supplied by a vet, pharmacist or suitably qualified person, and must be used exactly as they advise.

Important safety points:

• Use only in horses and ponies; do not use in other species

• Check the label for age, weight or other restrictions and follow them

• Do not exceed the recommended dose

• Tell your vet or SQP about any other medicines or supplements your horse is receiving

• Contact your vet if your horse shows unexpected signs after worming, such as colic, diarrhoea or marked dullness

People handling Equimax should wash their hands after use and avoid contact with the gel. Keep syringes out of the sight and reach of children and animals. Used and part-used syringes, and any unused product, should be disposed of safely according to the leaflet or returned to your vet or pharmacist.
