What is Horslyx Respiratory Balancer?
Horslyx Respiratory Balancer is a palatable, hard, low-moisture lick formulated to top up daily vitamins, macro- and trace minerals while providing aromatic oils to support a healthy respiratory system. The weather-resistant block suits both stable and pasture use and encourages natural trickle-feeding behaviour.
How it supports the airways
This balancer includes menthol, eucalyptus and aniseed, aromatic oils traditionally used to keep airways clear and comfortable. The soothing vapour profile complements routine management such as good ventilation, dust-controlled forage and sensible turnout.
Complete balancer nutrition
Alongside the respiratory oils, the formulation supplies a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals to balance common forage shortfalls. Antioxidants such as vitamin E and selenium help maintain normal immune function. Chelated copper and zinc support skin and hoof horn quality, while added oils contribute to coat shine without relying on cereal starch.
Who it’s for
-
Horses and ponies that need everyday respiratory support during dusty stable periods or high-pollen seasons.
-
Field-kept horses needing a durable balancer with built-in boredom reduction.
-
Fussy eaters that prefer a lick format over powdered bucket balancers.
Feeding & intake management
Introduce access gradually to set sensible consumption. Start with short, supervised sessions each day for the first week, then extend access once intake settles. Use a compatible holder or raised surface to keep the lick clean and to moderate consumption. Always provide ad-lib forage and fresh water, and monitor body condition score.
Low-starch suitability
The low-starch, molasses-based matrix can be suitable for good-doers and laminitis-prone equines when used sensibly within a calorie-controlled plan. Manage access time, monitor overall sugar intake from all feeds, and follow professional dietary advice where needed.
Size & presentation
Supplied in a heavy-duty 15 kg tub for yard or field use. Smaller sizes in the range (5 kg and 650 g) are commonly used for stables, travel and controlled trials of intake before moving to the yard tub.
Practical management tips
Position the lick away from hay nets to reduce debris contamination. In dusty environments, prioritise dust-managed bedding and soaked or steamed forage so the balancer works alongside good stable practices. Replace lids when not in use to keep the surface clean and firm.
