What Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water is
Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water is an oral anticoccidial medicine for chickens and turkeys. It contains toltrazuril 25 mg/ml, an antiprotozoal active against key Eimeria species that cause clinical coccidiosis in poultry.
This 1L presentation is suitable for use in commercial and backyard flocks where a vet has diagnosed, or strongly suspects, coccidiosis and prescribed Zorabel as part of the control plan.
Which birds Zorabel is for
Your vet may prescribe Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water for:
-
Chickens (pullets and breeding birds)
-
Turkeys
It is licensed specifically for these target species. Use in any other species must only follow clear veterinary direction.
When vets use Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water
Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water is used for the treatment of coccidiosis caused by:
-
Chickens: Eimeria acervulina, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. necatrix, E. tenella
-
Turkeys: Eimeria adenoides, E. meleagrimitis
Your vet will decide if Zorabel is appropriate, based on flock history, signs on farm and, where available, diagnostic results.
How Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water works
Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water contains toltrazuril, an antiprotozoal from the triazine group.
Toltrazuril:
-
Targets intracellular stages of coccidia in the gut
-
Disrupts energy production and key structures in the parasite
-
Helps stop further development and shedding of oocysts
By reducing the parasite load, Zorabel supports recovery of the gut lining and helps birds regain weight, vigour and uniformity when used as part of a wider coccidiosis control programme.
Dosing and administration
Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water is always given via the drinking water.
Your vet will:
-
Calculate the required mg toltrazuril per kg bodyweight
-
Estimate average liveweight and daily water intake
-
Provide clear instructions in ml Zorabel per litre of water
-
Specify whether treatment runs over 24 hours or 8 hours per day for two days
General principles (always follow your vet’s exact instructions):
-
Mix the measured volume of Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water into clean drinking water
-
Prepare fresh medicated water each treatment day
-
Ensure treated birds have no access to unmedicated water during the dosing period
-
Keep birds indoors during treatment in free-range systems so they drink only medicated water
Because water quality affects solubility, your vet may advise avoiding very acidic water and header-tank dosing at high concentrations.
Practical benefits for poultry units
When used correctly, Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water can help:
-
Reduce clinical signs of coccidiosis in affected groups
-
Improve uniformity and growth in recovering flocks
-
Limit production losses linked to gut damage and poor feed conversion
-
Support wider coccidiosis control alongside hygiene and vaccination plans
The 1L bottle offers flexible dosing for different flock sizes when used with accurate weighing and measuring equipment.
Safety and responsible use
Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water is a POM-V product. It must only be used:
-
Under the care of a veterinary surgeon
-
For the birds and condition your vet has prescribed
-
At the dose and for the length of time stated on the prescription
Important points:
-
Do not use in birds with known hypersensitivity to toltrazuril or excipients
-
Avoid repeated, frequent courses without veterinary review, to reduce resistance risk
-
Do not combine with other products in the same drinking water unless your vet approves, as this can affect water intake, especially in turkeys
People handling Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water should avoid skin and eye contact, wash hands after use, and follow the safety advice on the label and datasheet.
Withdrawal periods and records
As a product for food-producing birds, Zorabel 25 mg/ml Solution for use in Drinking Water has specific withdrawal periods. Your vet will confirm the current meat and egg withdrawal times and record them in your medicine book.
You must:
-
Record batch number, dose, dates and group treated
-
Mark treated houses or pens clearly
-
Ensure no birds go for slaughter, and no eggs enter the food chain where applicable, before the full withdrawal period has passed
If you are unsure about withdrawal dates, check with your vet before moving birds off farm.

-
Keep the bottle tightly closed, in a cool, dry place
