Advantage Spot-on Solution for Dogs contains the active ingredient imidacloprid, a fast-acting ectoparasiticide that kills adult fleas by contact and treats biting lice. It is licensed for dogs and puppies aged 8 weeks or older.

When to Use Advantage Spot-on

Veterinarians and SQPs recommend this product to:

• Treat existing flea infestations in dogs.

• Prevent new flea infestations for up to 4 weeks.

• Control biting lice (Trichodectes canis).

• Be part of the management of flea-allergy dermatitis (FAD).

How Advantage Spot-on Works

After application onto the skin, imidacloprid spreads across the coat and skin surface. It acts by disrupting the nervous system of fleas and lice, causing rapid paralysis and death, without requiring a bite from the parasite.

Available Strengths & Dosage

Multiple strengths are available based on dog weight:

• 100 mg for dogs 4-10 kg

• 250 mg for dogs 10-25 kg

• 400 mg for dogs 25-40 kg
  For dogs over 40 kg, two 400 mg pipettes may be used.

Apply once monthly by placing the contents of one pipette onto the skin at the base of the neck (between shoulder blades) for dogs up to 25 kg, or split between multiple spots for larger weights.

Precautions & Storage

• For external use only and apply only to undamaged skin.

• Do not allow recently treated animals to groom each other until the application site is dry.

• Avoid allowing the treated dog to swim or be bathed for at least 48 hours for maximum effect.

• Store below 25 °C, protect from light, and keep out of reach of children and other animals.

• Imidacloprid is toxic to aquatic organisms — treated dogs should not enter surface water for 48 hours post-application.
