What Metacam is used for

Metacam 1.5 mg/ml Oral Suspension for Dogs is licensed for the alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders in dogs, such as arthritis and injury-related pain.

Active ingredient and pack sizes

Contains meloxicam 1.5mg/ml, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Available in 10ml, 32ml, 100ml and 180ml bottles. This formulation is for dogs only — cats require the separate Metacam 0.5 mg/ml oral suspension.

How it’s given

Given orally, mixed with food or directly into the mouth, using the enclosed dropper or syringe — shake well before use. Typical dosing is 0.2mg/kg on day one, then 0.1mg/kg once daily, which your vet may reduce further to the lowest effective dose for long-term use. Do not change the dose without veterinary advice.

  • Not for use in pregnant or lactating dogs
