What Onsior is used for
Onsior (robenacoxib) is a coxib-class NSAID licensed for two uses in dogs: pain and inflammation from chronic osteoarthritis, and pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue surgery.
Available strengths
5mg, 10mg, 20mg and 40mg tablets, matched to your dog’s bodyweight by your vet, packs of 30.
How it’s given
Given once daily on an empty stomach (at least 30 minutes before or after food) — tablets should not be broken or divided. For osteoarthritis, your vet will re-evaluate treatment after around 10 days.
Safety information
- Not for use in dogs with gastrointestinal ulceration, hepatic disease, or hypersensitivity to robenacoxib
- Not for use in pregnant or lactating dogs
- Do not combine with corticosteroids or other NSAIDs
- Safety has not been established in dogs under 2.5kg or under 3 months old
- For long-term use, your vet will monitor liver enzymes at set intervals — contact your vet if your dog seems unusually tired, off their food, or is vomiting
- Possible effects include digestive upset, vomiting or reduced appetite; less commonly, raised liver enzymes or blood in the stool — contact your vet if you notice anything unusual
