NexGard Spectra

What NexGard Spectra is used for

NexGard Spectra (afoxolaner + milbemycin oxime) treats flea and tick infestations, sarcoptic mange, ear mite infestations and demodicosis, and treats adult roundworm, hookworm and whipworm infections. Monthly dosing also helps prevent heartworm disease, lungworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) and eyeworm (Thelazia callipaeda). It’s intended for dogs at risk of these parasites together, not as a general substitute for a single-purpose product.

Available strengths

Five tablet strengths matched to bodyweight: 1.35–3.5kg, over 3.5–7.5kg, over 7.5–15kg, over 15–30kg, and over 30–60kg. Given monthly, with or without food.

Safety information

• Not for use in dogs hypersensitive to the active ingredients
• The recommended dose should be strictly observed in collies and related breeds
• In areas where heartworm is present, your vet may test for existing infection before starting — NexGard Spectra does not treat adult heartworm
• Can be used in pregnant, lactating and breeding female dogs; use in breeding males is a vet benefit-risk decision
• Possible effects include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, reduced appetite or itching; very rarely, skin redness, seizure, wobbliness or muscle tremor — contact your vet if you notice anything unusual
