Cardalis (benazepril + spironolactone) is licensed to manage congestive heart failure in dogs caused by atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (degenerative valve disease), as an adjunct to other heart therapy. Available in 2.5/20mg, 5/40mg and 10/80mg strengths.

What Cardalis is used for

Cardalis combines benazepril and spironolactone and is licensed for the management of congestive heart failure in dogs caused by atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (degenerative mitral/tricuspid valve disease), used alongside other heart therapy such as a diuretic.

Available strengths

2.5mg/20mg, 5mg/40mg and 10mg/80mg tablets, dosed by your vet to your dog’s weight.

How it’s given

Given orally, once daily with food, exactly as your vet directs. Do not change the dose without veterinary advice.

Safety information
  • Not for use in dogs with hypoadrenocorticism (Addison’s disease), hyperkalaemia, hyponatraemia, dehydration, hypotension or renal insufficiency with hyperkalaemia
  • Not for use in pregnant, lactating or breeding dogs
  • Not for use in dogs hypersensitive to benazepril, spironolactone or ACE inhibitors
  • Periodic monitoring of kidney function and blood potassium is recommended during treatment
  • Possible effects include reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea or lethargy — contact your vet if you notice anything unusual
